Hello everyone!
Today, I will introduce you to a very nice place in Aso. The Chojugaoka flower park. It is situated near the outer rim and it is known as the popular spot that leads to the famous Laputa road. Unfortunately a big part of that road collapsed during the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016. I still have questions from tourists who want to enjoy the view from there, but the road is inaccessible. Unfortunately, there is still no plan to fix it in the years to come.
But the flower park itself is still accessible. And right now is the best time to go there. These flowers, called tsutsuji in Japanese seems to be from the family of azaleas and rhododendrons. And they are in full bloom right now!
As you can see on the pictures, the scenery is really great. You can see the outer rim of Aso caldera on the back of some of the pictures. Unfortunately, there is no public transportation to reach Chojugaoka flower park. If you have the chance to come to Aso and are able to rent a car or a bike, you can search for Chojugaoka on google maps or you can come visit us at Michi no Eki Aso!
See you soon in Aso!
