Have you heard of Mizuki Stroll [水基巡りin Japanese] which is one of the tourist spot in Aso?
It is known as fresh spring drinking water and are scattered into 36 spots mostly found in the charming street of Monzenmachi connected to Aso Shrine and some other area along Ichinomiya. As much as the people in Aso are much blessed with this overflow welling of spring water; they wish that tourist and visitors could also try it. They are all natural springs, some bubbling and others with fountains, wheels, bamboo pipes with the fresh spring water gushing out respectively. There’s practically one in front or next to the shop in Monzenmachi; you can enjoy it as a walking course or rent a bike if you start the course from Michinoeki. You may also wish to explore it like a game trying to find all of them and point them out or break into groups if you are coming as a big group; perhaps seeing which group gets to spot all 36 area; doesn’t that sound fun? Some of them have cups/ladles set next to them – so feel free to try these truly natural spring water!
With total number of 36 spots to explore, I have spotted almost half of them with pictures taken to share and each of them has a unique and interesting name attached which I will explain some of them below.
I’ve extracted 2 pictures above for explanation which I personally find them interesting and a must to drink them! From the left No.3 listed on the map with name Kinun-no-mizu which is written as 『金運の水』and is located next to Higo Bank hence many believe that drinking this spring water will bring a change of money luck; while picture on the right No.4 with the name kinmyaku-no-izumi which is written as 『金脈の泉』and is located in front of a bank and is believe that drinking this spring water brings good cashflow of money.
