Takeaway food at Michi no Eki Aso: Autumn/Winter menu

It started to get colder lately in Aso and we can feel that winter is close now. The takeaway food stand at Michi no Eki Aso will offer, starting November first, a selection of hot food for the visitors to warm themselves up.

Akaushi Dagojiru (450 yens)

A Dagojiru is a vegetable soup containing one or several dumplings of wheat flour. It is also a local specialty that you will find in numerous restaurants throughout the town. This Dagojiru soup is a little special because it is also containing Akaushi beef meat, another local specialty in Aso. This soup is prepared by the cooks of the traditional inn called Asobei. You can find more information about this accommodation via the following link: https://www.asobei.com (only in Japanese).

Amazake (180 yens)

A hot drink made from fermented rice and very popular in cold seasons, especially for the new year celebrations. Please note that even if it is only traces of it, Amazake contains alcohol. The rice used for this drink was cultivated in Aso and was awarded in 2018 in a national contest.

Zenzai with chestnut (420 yens)

The pastry Nakamura (situated only a few minutes away by foot from Michi no Eki Aso) is making this delicious hot soup made with sweet beans. It is like a traditional “dessert” in Japan, very popular in cold seasons. The soup sold at Michi no Eki Aso also contains chestnut as you can see on the picture.

Other hot meals will be added to the menu during the season. If you need to warm yourself up while visiting Aso, why not visit us at Michi no Eki Aso!
