The leaves started changing colors. I stopped at a small shrine near my house,the reflection on the clean water was beautiful.
We just heard a happy news the other day.
Mariott, a major American hotel company has a brand which is called as “Fairfield by Mariott”.
People stay at “ Fairfield by Mariott” can enjoy more simple way of travelling.
Since 2018, Mariott and Sekisui, one major Japanese house company had worked together for a project which was called as “Trip base roadside station project”. Already 14 “Fairfield by Mariott” were built by now in 5 prefectures, I saw the list of them and what I noticed was most of them are at rural area, where the foreign tourists wouldn’t have a chance to visit in general.
The purpose of this project is allowing people to find the attractive point of local area of Japan and helping the local business at the same time. They build their hotel beside roadside station instead of making luxury facilities inside.People can enjoy shopping or local food easily, and also have a chance to join local activities.
There was an announcement the other day that they will start the second stage of this project and 14 more “Fairfield by Mariott” will open in Japan!
Why am I so excited?? Well,,,, because Michi no Eki Aso was chosen as the one to be next of this “Fairfield by Mariott”! It will be right at the corner, in 1 min on foot from us !
Not only us, JR Aso station and bus terminal are right beside of the hotel. And Onsen (hot spring) will be at next door:D It is very convenient place.
And, you should be able to see the great view of Mt. Aso from the room. (Well, I am just guessing from their location, though)
For the foreign tourists who visit Japan for short period, Aso might not be the first choice even it is Unesco Geopark. It is far away from the most popular sightseeing area as Tokyo or Kyoto. But I highly recommend the rural area! Because of this beautiful nature, good food and nice people and more…
“Fairfield by Mariott Aso” are supposed to open in fall,2023.
We can’t wait more people come to discover Aso!
