“The grass is greener on the other side of the fence.”
We have often dreamt of venturing to the moon and exploring its terrain. However, there are still mysterious places on Earth waiting to be discovered. Yes, you can experience a moon-like landscape in Aso.
This is Min Min, back with a blog post about Aso. Recently, I visited the trekking trails of Nakadake and Takadake’s summits with my colleagues to capture images that help us in explaining the routes to our hiking customers. Although we didn’t complete the entire hike, I got some beautiful trail pictures and enjoyed memorable moments.
The trek to the summits of Nakadake and Takadake is one of the most challenging hikes in Aso, offering a breathtaking variety of scenery. The intriguing part begins just 30 minutes from the bus stop at a location called “Suna Senri,” which I’d like to describe as the twin brother of “Kusa Senri.” While everyone is familiar with the expansive green grassland of “Kusa Senri,” Suna Senri provides a novel and fascinating experience, making me feel like I was walking on the moon’s surface. Take a look at the black sand and the solitary trail – it’s hard to argue that this is an ordinary landscape.
You’ll notice scattered rocks that have fallen from the Nakadake Crater.
This is the largest rock resembling a dinosaur egg as suggested by my colleague wwww.
This is the end of the wooden path and challenges await for you from here.
The views, however, are spectacular, offering glimpses of Aso city.
The trail becomes steeper, and you may need to scramble over stones. This is where we turn back as we were not well prepared to complete the hike.
In this photo, you can see a person going down the trail. How tiny we are compared to Mt.Aso.
If you seek a new and challenging hiking experience, Aso is the perfect destination for you.
That is all for today’s blog post, and I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for reading until the end.
Don’t forget to drop by our Michino Eki Aso when you’re in Aso.
Have a wonderful day.
