Aso is currently in its off-season, but we still have quite a few foreign visitors even during the winter. The view of Mount Aso with snow is amazing, but please be sure to watch the weather and road conditions if you’re planning to visit Aso in the colder months.
Winter Travel Tips for Visitors to Aso | 道の駅 阿蘇Michi no Eki Aso
Visiting the “One Piece” statue is quite popular among foreign tourists. It’s also an activity you can enjoy even if the weather isn’t great.
We have the Usopp statue right next to us, and the purchase of Usopp figure is available only at our store, Michi no Eki Aso.
Unfortunately, the bronze version is out of stock at the moment, but we’ve heard it will be available again in February. However, the new colored version is available at the cashier, and you can also pick up a Usopp card at our tourist information desk.
Since December 8th, Aso City has been running a new event for Usopp.
If you visit four spots in Aso City and collect stamps, you’ll be able to complete an image of Usopp on a special piece of paper.
Here’s how it works:
- Pick up a special stamp card at the Information Counter at JR Aso Station.
- Visit the Usopp statue!
- Michi no Eki Aso (the special stamp is at the desk near the cashier and restroom).
- Ichinomiya Information Center near Aso Shrine.
- ASO MILK FACTORY
- Aso Viva Playground (15-minute walk or 5-minute drive from ASO MILK FACTORY)
*The order can be flexible. 1,2, and 3 are in same area. You can also visit spots 4, 5, and 6 easily by taking a local bus from JR Aso Station.
What you’ll see after collecting all four stamps is a surprise!

*The event is scheduled to run until March 16th, 2025, but it might end earlier if the special stamp cards run out.
