Today, I’d like to introduce a fantastic light and water display near Michi no Eki Aso.
This beautiful fountain show takes place every 30 minutes starting at 11 AM, and every 20 minutes from 7 PM to 9 PM.
While the fountain is captivating even without the lights, it truly comes to life when illuminated!
I recently visited to take photos around 6 PM, just as daylight was fading.
As night falls, the fountain lights become visible, creating a magical atmosphere.
This winter, a charming illumination has been installed behind the fountain, running until February 16th, allowing you to enjoy both the fountain show and the festive lights together.
As winter evenings in Aso can be freezing cold, be sure to bundle up when you come to see this fountain light show.
Michi no Eki Aso closes at 6 PM, but don’t worry—there are plenty of cozy options to warm up.
You can relax in “Yume no Yu”, the public hot spring bath.
Also, you can enjoy a warm nice meal at the nearby ramen restaurant or café. (Ramen Gyan/ Coffee Plaza East)
If you’re looking for accommodations, the “Fairfield by Marriott” is conveniently located nearby.
Since the fountain is right in front of the station, it’s easy to travel back to Kumamoto city as well.
Though January and February are the coldest months of the year, the days are gradually getting longer. By the end of February, daylight will last until around 6:30 PM, so be sure to check the sunset time on the day you plan to visit.
